Rondje Ameland was created in 1995 by a group of people who wanted to walk around the island for once.
Since then, Rondje Ameland has grown into an annual walking event that takes place in the month of June.
Round trip Ameland is not a competition, but a challenge for all walking and Ameland lovers.

Although Rondje Ameland is not a competition, you are expected to be in good shape and some training is not unnecessary.
Everyone aged 12 and over may, after registering and paying the entry fee, participate in Rondje Ameland and enjoy a beautiful walk.
The start of Rondje Ameland is at 05:00 in the morning at 'Ons Hol' in Hollum and everyone is expected back at the finish line at 17:00h at the latest.

Together with other sporty Ameland lovers, you will walk through beautiful nature and pass six checkpoints.
The organisation of Rondje Ameland provides the necessary refreshments, such as soup, tea/coffee, bread, fruit and dextrose.
